Teaching Artists – Spring & Summer Camp 2026

Do you love teaching, entertaining, and taking care of children ages 3-8 in a nurturing space where their imaginations are celebrated?  Do you love sharing the magic of storytelling with children? If so, we would love to hear from you! 

Treasure Trunk Theatre (located in Brooklyn, NY) is seeking teaching artists for our roster of talented, enthusiastic, and inspiring teachers for our summer camp season as well as for our April break camps. Additionally, options are available to join our team for the spring class season as a sub, if your schedule permits. 

We are currently hiring both lead and assistant teaching artists. Select candidates with extensive experience will be considered immediately for our lead teacher training process. We promote from within, so those hired as assistants will be given the opportunity to apply in the future for the lead training process as well.

Our Mission: ​At Treasure Trunk Theatre, we create a nurturing space for children to develop their imagination, confidence, and creativity through the magic of storytelling. We encourage self-expression and celebrate individuality. We use the power of dramatic play to inspire each child to be their unique self, to connect with others, and to see the world in an empathic way.

Those who will best succeed in this role must: 

●  have experience working on a collaborative team, and experience working with children in a ​childcare, babysitting, family, classroom, camp and/or arts setting​.

●  enjoy taking care of, teaching, and entertaining children 3-6 years old — as well as 6-8 years old. (the majority of our camps are for 3-6 year olds).

●  be ​engaging​ and able to ​adapt quickly​ and creatively to meet the needs of outdoor and indoor classroom spaces.

●  ensure the ​highest level of safety ​throughout our camp day.

●  be comfortable with being outdoors – while our camps are largely indoors, we have a few select outdoor camps in JUNE and we do go outside each day to the playground for about 45 minutes to an hour, weather permitting. 

●  have experience assisting children with bathroom visits.

●  display ​confidence​ and a willingness to be playful​. 

●  love to have fun and bring one’s own personal and creative style to their teaching!

PLEASE NOTE: Treasure Trunk Theatre develops and provides all curriculum. No lesson planning is required on the part of our teaching artists.

  • Cadman Plaza Park | Brooklyn Heights – Outdoor location! Select weeks only. 

Dates: Camps begin June 4th and run every week, Monday – Friday until September 9th. 

Hours: Camp runs 9:00 am – 12:00 pm every day, with regular extended day until 3:00pm and late extended day until 5:30pm available at our Treasure Trunk Atlantic Ave, Park Slope, and Prospect Heights locations only. 

Shift is typically 8:30 am – 3:15 pm, with the option for half-day shifts from  8:30 am -12:15 pm & 12:00 pm – 3:15 pm. Late extended day shifts would run until 5:45pm. 

Shift Frequency: We are looking for Team Members with availability throughout the summer.

Pay: $22-$32/hour for camps depending on position and $35-75/hour for special events.

This is a seasonal position. Continuing into our Fall 2026 Team is possible, but not guaranteed. 

NOTE: Treasure Trunk Theatre follows all guidelines and safety protocol as directed by the CDC and DOH. Teaching artists will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before the first day of teaching. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. All safety precautions are subject to change based on the current recommendations at the start time of our programs.

Administrative Program Assistant

 Location:Brooklyn, NY (Hybrid)
Hours:20 hours per week, with opportunity for growth and additional hours per week
Reports to:Chief Program Officer (CPO) and Program Manager
Room for growth within a mission-driven, creative company

Compensation: $22-$24 per hour, depending on experience

We are growing — and looking for a dedicated, organized, and enthusiastic Administrative Program Assistant to support our main office, CPO and Program Manager in day-to-day operations, administrative tasks, and communications.

About the Role
This role sits at the intersection of operations, program coordination, and family communication. The Administrative Program Assistant plays a key part in keeping our programs running smoothly, our team aligned, and our families informed and supported. This is an ideal position for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, detail-oriented, creative environment and enjoys supporting children’s programming.

Key Responsibilities

Administrative Support

  • Draft and send pre-class and pre-camp emails to families
  • Distribute class photo albums to families post-session
  • Manage and update Google Calendars for leadership and programming, alongside our Program Manager
  • Create and maintain WhatsApp groups for weekly camps, classes, and weekend parties
  • Track and update registration spreadsheets for camps
  • Manage teacher check-ins before classes and camps to ensure smooth staffing and communication
  • Manage waitlists for classes and camps

Customer Experience & Communication

  • Respond to parent inquiries via email and phone in a timely, professional, and friendly manner
  • Provide a warm, solutions-focused approach to all communication with families
  • Act as a switchboard operator, directing questions, concerns, or logistics to the appropriate team member
  • Manage main office’s inbox alongside the Program Manager, including prioritizing and flagging urgent items
  • Answer internal teacher questions via email and WhatsApp regarding scheduling, as well as provide in-the-moment guidance to teachers for troubleshooting classroom needs

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Comfortable with Google Suite (especially Google Calendar, Drive, and Sheets) and Sawyer, or similar class booking systems
  • Curiosity about, and familiarity with AI tools (ideally Claude), with an interest in using technology to improve efficiency and problem-solving
  • Confident and professional in handling sensitive customer communication
  • Ability to take initiative, stay calm under pressure, and adapt in a dynamic, creative work environment
  • Prior experience in customer service, administrative support, education, or performing arts is strongly encouraged
  • Availability for some possible on-site work in Brooklyn (hybrid schedule to be discussed)
